MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration issued a round on Friday that made it necessary for the kin of sufferers to provide Aadhaar card particulars, medical doctors’ prescription, consent type, a Covid optimistic report and call particulars for the acquisition of the anti-viral drug remdesivir and anti inflammatory medication tocilizumab.

Some medical doctors mentioned it was unfair to demand so many paperwork from harrowed family. The minister made shock checks at Masina Hospital in Byculla and a retailer of a wholesale druggist, SK Distributor, in Ghatkopar. FDA officers who accompanied the minister mentioned they didn’t discover any discrepancy within the buy and sale data at these locations. “Since these drugs may have shown encouraging results on critical Covid-19 patients, their demand has gone up in the last few weeks,” Shingane mentioned. “We have asked the licensed companies to expedite production.” An FDA official mentioned that over 2,100 vials of the remdesivir drug from Cipla arrived within the metropolis late on Thursday, of which 1,600 doses went to personal hospitals and the remaining to BMC hospitals.
The BMC had obtained 6,000 vials of remdesivir final week from Hetero.
