New, cost-effective Dryline linear bearing ensures fast, lubrication-free movements
Igus, a motion plastics specialist, shows what plastics can do with its first Dryline W linear bearing made entirely of tribo-polymer. Linear bearing is specially developed for linear movements. At just ten grams, it is quick to install, vibration-damping, lubrication-free and ideal for transportable applications. The fact that it is injection molded makes it very cost effective. The injection molding-optimized design also minimizes its weight, reducing the linear system drive energy required.
Durable, lightweight and low-cost: the new Dryline W linear bearing from Igus. It is made entirely of Iglidur polymers, so it can be manufactured quickly, simply and cost-effectively with injection molding. The liner and linear housing are combined into a single component that simplifies handling from storage to installation. Iglidur polymer bearings weigh up to 84% less than classic linear bearings with their metal housings. Thus there is less mass to move, so force, motor output and energy consumption drop. The slim bearing, installation size of just ten grams at 10, has many advantages for those new linear technology for applications that require a simple linear guide, such as adjusting tabletop devices, cameras, sensors or monitors. The bearing is made from Iglidur JB, a tribologically optimized high-performance polymer, so it requires no lubrication or maintenance and is durable and resistant to dust and dirt. The black material is notable for its very low coefficient of friction and very low stick-slip tendency in dry running. Polymer bearings can handle loads of up to 25 Newtons with ease, as tested in our 3,800-square-meter in-house laboratory at the Cologne show. It is elastic and damping as well as impact-resistant and strong so that it can absorb and dissipate vibrations.
